Things to do in Agnes Water and the Town of 1770

With only six kilometres between these two seaside towns where you can take your pick of strolling along the sandy white beach, swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, sailing, fishing, and diving. There are boats to take you on a Great Barrier Reef adventure, or hire a scooter to explore ashore. Take a trip on the unusual LARC amphibian craft for a tour of the local sights like the Bustard Head Lightstation and historic cemetery with beautiful lightkeepers cottages.

There are day tours by boat to see the colourful corals at Fitzroy Reef, and sunset cruises to end your day. The 75 boat Spirit of 1770 takes guests to Lady Musgrave Island and Lagoon to see the coral cay, turtles, manta rays and from June to September, the migrating Humpback Whales.

The Mango Tree Motel is just 200 metres from shops and surf school and for golfers, the Town of 1770 Golf Course and Driving Range is on 68 acres set among natural bushland. The 1770 Bowls Club is also nearby. Agnes Water is surrounded by two national parks, Deepwater and Eurimbula - there are 4WD tracks and pristine beaches to explore.

Every year on 24 May there is a festival to commemorate Captain James Cook's arrival in 1770. This festivities include a short film festival, art show and parade and culminates in an amazing weekend of live music, entertainment, stalls, food, rides and lots more!
