Castle Motel - Castlemaine

The Castle Motel is Castlemaine's largest motel and provides twenty one ground floor units set on one and a half acres in a natural bushland setting. Facilities include one and two bedroom family rooms, a large garden area with solar heated saltwater pool and spa and a children's playground. All rooms have queen beds and all modern conveniences including free Austar TV, air conditioning hair-dryers, Iron/Ironing board, electric blankets, tea and coffee making facilities.

A fully licensed restaurant is available for coaches, groups or conferences, seating up to 60 and there is ample off street parking. Room service and full catering is available in our well appointed Restaurant/Reception room and we will happily cater for all your needs whatever the occasion. We are a short walk to shops, hotels, restaurants and charge back facilities are available.

Things to See and Do in Castlemaine

While staying at the Castle Motel visit some of the towns historic buildings. The Castlemaine Art Gallery and Historical Museum was founded in 1913 and has an impressive collection of Australian artworks and objects from Castlemaine and the surrounding district. The Castlemaine's Theatre Royal is the oldest continually operating theatre on the Australian mainland. Buda Historic House and Garden is an authentic homestsead surviving from the gold rush era.

Visit the delightful Butterfly House, Australia's only 'open air', temperate enclosure with its array of magnificent butterflies. Don't forget to take a ride on the old steam train which links Castlemaine and Maldon through box-iron bark forest in a region that saw some of the richest gold mining in Australia. And for more of the central Victorian countryside around Castlemaine visit some of the local vineyards which are renowned for their magnificent full-flavoured Shiraz & Cabernet-Sauvignon red wines.
